Company Profile

Elliott and Waldron Title Co. was born in the late 1800's in East Texas and had over 150

locations throughout Texas and New Mexico.

E&W-Lea County was incorporated as Elliott and Waldron Abstract Company in 1929 headquartered at the Northwest corner of central and Main Street, Lovington, New Mexico. Elliott & Waldron also maintained an office in Hobbs, New Mexico.

The original Elliott & Waldron was family owned and the primary business was preparing

Mineral Abstracts for the oil and gas industry.

Surface abstracts were also compiled to enable an attorney to render an opinion for the sale

and/or mortgaging of residential and commercial properties.

In the 1940's the oil bust forced the owners to sell off most of their title plants.

Elliott & Waldron in Lea County was purchased by the local operator.

Beginning in the 1960's Title Insurance evolved as the preferred method of assurance in property transfers and Elliott & Waldron was appointed as an agent for a National Underwriter to issue policies of title insurance. Due to this evolution, the business of title searching became a more detailed and sophisticated skill.

Randy Owensby purchased E&W in 1979 with an employment of two people in Hobbs and five people in Lovington.

Randy pursued a vision of building the company on service, trust and efficiency.

Through employing service and technical oriented staff, the company has grown substantially,

currently employing ten people in Hobbs, nine people in Lovington and representation of six of the

Nations most reputable Title Insurance Underwriters.

Randy turned operational control over to David Pyeatt in 1993 and with the superior assistance

from the staff, the company evolved into the computer era, developing one of the most

"state of the art" title plants in the United States.

E&W's title plant consists of a geographical index, including actual document images of the

Lea County Clerk's records. The current title plant enables the staff to examine 

titles and retrieve specific data in a fraction of the time it once took.

E&W recognizes, our most important asset is the 19 dedicated employees, and takes

great pride in their ability to service our customers, the real estate industry, the oil & gas industry,

and the wonderful people of Lea County, New Mexico.
